Exploring Thompson
1)
Question 1: If there was one thing you could
personally change about how society learns, what would it be?
Question 2: If you could remove one thing from
society/ the modern world, what would it be?
2)
One
of the elements that Thompson used that really persuaded me was when he
compared the amount of words we compose a day to the all the books in the
United States Library of Congress. This opened my eyes and shocked me how much
we write without even knowing it. Another element he used that truly persuaded
me was when he talked about penicillin incident. This made me feel as if
technology really does make a huge effect on communicating with others.
However, when Thompson discussed the audience effect. I believe the audience
effect was sort of a common knowledge discussion that could have been avoided.

Thompson
began to write about the Kenyan blogger because she was a microcosm of his
entire essay. She was a symbol of society, a symbol that most reader could
connect with. For example, when he started talking about her blogging. We can relate to her, as she posts pictures
of everyday life just like most of us. Thompson wanted to draw our attention by
allowing us to read about someone similar to an everyday person.
