"Do We Have the Courage to Stop This?"
First of all, I
found Kristof’s text very interesting and intriguing to read. I think Kristof’s
main claims seem to be very persuading to those who have no knowledge about the
gun safety issues here in the United States. The main types of evidence that
Kristof used were his use of statistics to support his ideas. He used
statistics to make the reader aware of the large amount of people suffering
here in America, but also used statistics to show how much better other colonized
countries are doing with the same issues. Another type of evidence that Kristof
used was his way of giving resolutions to the problems he is talking about. He
gave a satisfying amount of policies that would work to stop the gun safety
crisis. Lastly, Kristof also stated what those who are in favor of guns would never get their guns taken away from them completely. This shows that he is not
only talking about one side in this argument but is using pros and cons.
Overall, he did a tremendous job supporting his evidence with good reasons and had acknowledgement of multiple perspectives. All his reasons linked together so perfectly and really made the reader feel what he felt. As for his multiple perspectives, like i said before he used pros/cons to give a view from all different angles in his text. All these ways of Kristof using evidence to support the issue he is trying to get across to the world were very effective and
persuasive to the common reader.
